We have created the Historical Section with two objectives in mind: to offer a rich archive of pictorial material, and to present an era of Greek modern history, which is largely unknown and has pusposefully been distorted.
The Timeline, which will be available in the next few weeks, will give a linear representation of the period between King George I's election, to the abolition of Constitutional Monarchy in Greece.
In the remaining subsections, the visitor will find rare photographs and paintings of the Greek Dynasty, as well as important manuscripts, speeches etc.
Some of the highlights include the original document of the Greek Assembly's resolution to appoint George I as King of the Hellenes, an album of Queen Frederika's unknown public welfare work, King Constantine's declarations to the Greek people before his attempt to overthrow the colonel's and prior to the 1973-74 plebiscites, and other historical gems which we will let you discover.
